Applications for the 2024-2025 program are now closed. If you submitted an application, wait for further instructions.
Who can participate in the ECE AMP?
The program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled within the ECE department, and alumni previously affiliated with the ECE department.
When is the deadline to sign up?
The deadline to sign up is November 9, 2024 at 11:59 PM PST.
The ECE AMP is FREE but restricted to students and alumni affiliated with the ECE department.
Do all students that apply get into the program?
Unfortunately, no. We will try our best to accommodate as many students as possible, however, the number of people we can admit into the program depends on the availability of alumni volunteers that sign up as mentors.
Previously, we gave priority to students that were unable to be accommodated. The 2024-2025 cycle will be the last cycle we will be able to adhere to this policy. We thank you for your understanding. Many of our events are also open to the public.
I'm studying abroad, can I still apply for the program?
Yes, as long as you are still a student registered under the ECE Department. When filling out your application please make sure you select "Virtual Only" and make a comment about the time-zone you'll be in.
Studying abroad does not affect your ability to get paired with a mentor except in the rare cases where a mentor explicitly states they want an in-person experience or prefer mentoring someone in a specific time-zone.
How long does the program run?
The ECE AMP is a six-month long program that starts in the Fall quarter and ends during the Spring quarter. Out of respect to both mentors and mentees, we ask that all participants at a minimum commit to this time frame, but we also encourage participants to continue the mentor-mentee relationship after the conclusion of the program.
You can expect a minimum time requirement of at least 1-2 meetings per month, lasting from 30 minutes to 1 hour long.
Will the program be in-person?
Participants may choose their preference for an in-person or virtual experience. We will have a mix of in-person and virtual events. This is subject to change based on guidance provided by the University.
Who runs the ECE AMP?
The ECE AMP is a collaboration between the ECE Department and the ECE Alumni Advisory Board.
The AMP Lead for the 2022-2023 AY is Simon Hu and can be reached at ece-amp@ucsd.edu
I want to support the ECE AMP but I can't commit to becoming a mentor. How can I contribute?
We appreciate all alumni participation, even if you cannot commit to being a mentor. We're always looking for alumni to
host and participate in events (e.g., resume reviews, mock interviews, time-management),
assist with planning ECE AMP activities,
provide guidance to students,
and more!
This is just a short list of things you can help with. Please don't hesitate to reach out to ece-amp@ucsd.edu if you want to help the program in any way.
Help! My mentor/mentee hasn't responded to me; what should I do?
Please email ece-amp@ucsd.edu with your name and your mentor/mentee's name.

End of Mentorship Program
This is when mentors and mentees virtually meet with one another to catch up. This should happen about twice a month for 30 minutes to an hour.
We want to ensure that each of you have meaningful conversations and have the chance to meet others in this program. We will host guest speakers and initiate group discussions with the entire community.
We shall discuss various professional and social topics. These events will happen about once a month and are optional.
